Online Counselling ServicesWritten by Dan L. Mitchell, We provide counselling by secure e-mail. We have a name that describes the counselling part (TherapEmail) and another name that refers to the technological part (PrivacEmail) of our work. Let me explain:
How it worksSince online counselling is still very new, I believe it is very important that I explain what will happen and how TherapEmailTM differs from face-to-face counselling. Please take a moment right now to decide whether you have time to learn how it works, and to get properly set up if you decide to get involved. After I explain how it works, I will show you how to register to begin online counselling. Then I will get you set up with our secure PrivacEmailTM system. After that, you can get into your secure PrivacEmailTM account so that you can immediately begin writing to your counsellor. To help you get started, we will ask you a few questions to help you tell your counsellor about your concerns. You can either choose your counsellor or we can assign you a counsellor. When you finish writing, you send your TherapEmailTM message securely to us. Your counsellor will reply within a few days (see below). You can also request that your counsellor discreetly telephone you to welcome you and answer any questions you may have. From there, you send TherapEmailTM to your counsellor as often as you want. If you are interested, I will show you an example of TherapEmail. "How long will it take for my counsellor to respond to me?"We, the counsellors, give personal, full hour replies. We do not give automated responses. You can expect to receive a personal TherapEmail reply within three business days of receiving your payment. Please contact us if you don't get a reply within that time-frame. After your initial contact with your counsellor, he or she will schedule replies to you approximately once per week. You may, of course, send as many TherapEmails to your counsellor as you wish any time at all. Your counsellor will normally reply once per week as scheduled. If you mark a message "URGENT" in the subject line, your counsellor will make every effort to reply as soon as possible. However, emergency situations, such as someone considering suicide or homicide, need immediate attention. I want to make sure you realize that, if any kind of emergency is happening where you are located, you will need to handle it without the help of Therapy Online. It just doesn't make sense to send your counsellor a TherapEmail, hoping that he or she will be able to help you at that moment. Therapy Online's counsellors are expected to check for incoming PrivacEmail messages only once per day (Monday through Friday, excluding Canadian statutory holidays). I, and our other counsellors, can definitely help you with what happens after an emergency. But we are powerless to help you while the emergency is happening. Because of this, we have prepared a web page especially to help people know how to get help in a crisis. Please take the time to view this page. Internet Security and PrivacyProtecting your privacy is extremely important to us. If you are interested, Lawrence will explain how we keep your personal information secure. I would also recommend you read our privacy policy. What you need in order to use PrivacEmailTMIn order to begin sending and receiving TherapEmail you will need to set up your own PrivacEmail account. Please check PrivacEmail's system requirements
